“It is ironic that, going by the Edelman Trust Barometer, Australians do not trust business, when arguably, business tells the world more about itself than ever before.

Although it is not required by law in this country, Australian companies have enthusiastically adopted the global trend toward integrated reporting, a practice that puts together information on all of a company’s value drivers – its strategy, governance, performance and prospects – and how they are performing.

Where traditional financial reporting emphasised looking backward over the company’s financial results, integrated reporting can cover active governance, resource use, strategic performance, management of material risk, and how the company is managing its other forms of capital – intellectual, natural, social and relationship capital – to execute its strategy in the future.”
