Ellen Simon-Heckroth

Ellen Simon-Heckroth is a partner at BDO AG. Her professional career started with EY in 1983 and she joined BDO in 1990. In 2009, she became head of the department Professional Practice & Governance at the German firm’s headquarters in Hamburg.

She has many years of experience in annual and group audits of national and international organisations including numerous public interest entities. Currently her focus is as a practitioner in providing assurance services in the field of non-financial and corporate governance reporting and render consulting services to companies improving their systems and reporting on non-financial aspects.

Ellen is Chair of the Institut der Wirtschaftsprüfer in Deutschland (IDW – the Institute of Public Auditors in Germany) Sustainability Working Party. She is a member of Accountancy Europe’s ESG Reporting Task Force and Schmalenbach Society’s Corporate Governance Working Party.

In addition to her executive responsibilities, she holds several honorary positions in the accountancy profession both nationally and on an European level, which cover national and international accounting subjects, assurance services, non-financial and corporate governance reporting.

She has published a variety of articles majorly published by the German Institute of Chartered Accountants including aspects of non-financial and corporate governance reporting.
