Currently based in Amsterdam, Sarah Nicholls leads JLL’s Global Sustainability (GS) team, which focuses on reporting and internal sustainability. Moving forward, the team will facilitate Building A Better Tomorrow globally, which is JLL’s new sustainability leadership agenda. JLL is a professional services firm specializing in real estate with over 60,000 employees.
Sarah holds responsibility for JLL’s sustainability and integrated reporting (social, environmental and financial); greenhouse gas emissions measurement; and sustainability governance, strategy and stakeholder engagement at the global level. Sarah started with JLL in 2009 as an Analyst and has worked from Europe and the US. She serves on the firm’s Global Operating Board alongside other corporate function leaders. She became a Director in 2016 and has been the inaugural member of the GS team since 2010.
Her work includes accomplishments such as JLL’s appearance on the ‘Best Corporate Citizens’ list, a strategic and messaging change from ‘CSR’ to ‘Sustainability’ to ‘Building A Better Tomorrow’, setting the firm’s first-ever energy and carbon reduction targets, serving as a founding member and Chair of the Global Sustainability Board, co-leading JLL’s integrated thinking strategy, and achieving yearly improvements on four sustainability and CDP disclosures.
Sarah graduated with a Bachelor of Science and Business Administration from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Her degree included time at the University of Economics in Prague. She is currently a 2016 Master’s candidate with the University of Cambridge’s Institute for Sustainability Leadership.
