Sanofi published its first integrated report in 2016, presenting Sanofi’s willingness to better integrate financial and extra-financial information as well as its strategic roadmap for sustainable value creation. It includes information on its economic outlook and value chain and reviews significant events for the company and its businesses during 2016 and early 2017.
The development of Sanofi’s integrated report helped it better align its strategic vision for the business with the needs of the ecosystems and civil society expectations, with the objective of better preventing risks and adapting its business model to opportunities. Through its integrated report, Sanofi has been able to demonstrate the richness and variety of value it created across the following dimensions: financial, economic, social, access to healthcare, environment and trust. Linking sustainable performance and financial results, it reflects the company’s vision and establishes a new channel of communication with its stakeholders.
It is a substantial step-up towards the Integrated Reporting approach outlined in the IIRC’s International <IR> Framework and a significant achievement for Sanofi. This was recognized by the inclusion of this first edition in the shortlist of the “Best Integrated Report” category of the Ethical Corporation 2017 Responsible Business Awards.
Ophra Rebière, MD and Head of CSR, Sanofi, said of Sanofi’s first integrated annual report
“We are very proud to publish our first Integrated Report thanks to the continuous support and contribution of all Sanofi team members who took part to the project. This is a substantial milestone in the Integrated Thinking approach of Sanofi which will continue to evolve in the years to come.
This evolution in Sanofi’s reporting is designed to provide a holistic view of the company’s strategic roadmap and its sustainable value creation, performance, and governance, with information covering year 2016 and early 2017. It is a reflection of the company’s vision, linking sustainability performance to business results, and a new communication channel with all its stakeholders.
This first 2016 Integrated Report has been prepared in accordance with the most widely recognized international standards: it is inspired by the reference framework published by the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC) and complies with the GRI G4 Sustainability Reporting Guidelines (“Core” option).”
